RIVER

Tina Davidson

About this work:
River was commissioned for the Reading Symphony Orchestra by the Reading Public Museum in honor of its 100th anniversary and its legacy and gift of true learning. River, written in one movement, begins with a restless, pushing back and forth while gathering up energy. Scattered with rhythmic motion and melodies, the work pushes on, through vista after vista, until it thunders to a climax that burst out into open water. Long, intertwining melodies move upwards to the sky, leaving a trail of evanescence behind.
