Visit www.chkaufman.com Kaufman began his musical life at the New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts where he performed on oboe and piano, sang bass solos in Handel’s Messiah and began music composition. He completed his ‘classical’ training earning his D.M.A. at Cornell University where he studied with Pulitzer Prize Winning composers and focused on composing and presenting concerts. One of his most chamber music recent compositions, Hudson Valley Music, was commissioned by Quintet of the Americas for their 30th Anniversary. It is an environmental piece and was presented in concert with the World Wildlife Society and Dr. Eric Sanderson’s Mannahatta Project. In HVM Kaufman accompanies the performers with a CDTape where he composed music from natural sounds. This sound design comes from his work in film. There is also a video of natural and artistic images which is part of the performance and helps tell the story of the piece. HVM will be featured on an environmental conference where R.
