Composer,pianist and economist,William Holroyd has composed more than 60 compositions for piano, voice, and chamber ensembles, many of which have been performed before audiences of the Friday Morning Music Club, the Washington area's largest organization of professional and amateur musicians.
Recently, the world premieres of William Holroyd's octet (Polyphonies) and nonet (Ballata) were conducted by Joel Lazar, distinguished conductor and musicologist. The octet was performed in the Renwick Gallery, Washington, DC, and the nonet was heard in the Strathmore Arts Center, Rockville, MD. One of his taped works, Jubilee, for mezzo-soprano and piano, was performed in 2001 in Louisville, KY.
Holroyd holds Bachelor and Master Degrees from the Cincinnati Conservatory where he studied composition with William Naylor. He also studied piano with the eminent virtuoso, Robert Goldsand. After receiving the award for General Musicianship, he completed his studies with George Thaddeus Jones, Professor of Composition at Catholic University of America, Washington, DC.
