About this work:
I Was Dreaming of the Sea… was originally composed for either flute or violin, with cello and piano. The last movement was composed first, and the first movement was then written as an improvisatory ramble over the same harmonies that end the last movement. At first sans title, everyone who heard it said it reminded them of water, hence the current title.
