Ancient Songs Of The Universe

Roger Ames

About this work:
Commissioned by the Long Island Masterworks Chorus, Frances Roberts, Conductor, for their 20th Anniversary. Set to the poetry of Paul Rosen, in three movements: 1. Music of the Stars; 2. We Celebrate the Music; 3. We Sing Eternity. Each movement concludes with an "Alleluia" setting. Tonal, bi-modal, and harmonically innovative, the piano serves as the anchor for the piece, and is meant to be a 'concerto' for piano and chorus. The setting is both dramatic and meditative, celebrating the birth, growth, and necessity for music in our lives.
