About this work:
After I wrote the chamber ensemble version of Icarus I decided to arrange it for wind band, as well as add more to it, rounding it out to nearly 5 and a half minutes. Icarus is an exciting, fast paced piece, full of frequently changing mixed meters and soaring melodies to give the listener the mental image of flying toward the sun, just as Icarus did.
