Quartet No. 1

Harry Boyd

About this work:
This entire quartet is frequently dissonant and technically the more difficult of the set of four quartets. The first movement is dramatic and rapidly moving; the unusual intervals and rapid key changes make this somewhat more difficult than the other movements. The second movement is somber, slow and evocative of the coral reef. It is generally tonal with beautiful melodies and interesting string effects. The third (and final) movement is strong and melodic; it is very rhythmic and powerful. The part-scores can be obtained from my website (www.prestoscores.com).
