Quartet No. 2

Harry Boyd

About this work:
The first movement is vigorous and rhythmic, and presents no special technical difficulties. It is energetic and tonal. The second movement is quietly lyrical with haunting contrapuntal melodies. It requires great attention to phrasing and tonal quality. The third movement is cheerful with rapid changes of rhythm and emphasis and is somewhat more difficult technically. The fourth movement is passionate and martial with strong rhythms and melodies. It is dramatic and powerful, and brings the entire quartet to a strong ending.
