About this work:
In each of these songs, a woman (lyric soprano)has been separated, by either distance or death, from one or more loved ones. The melodic,harmonic and rhythmic styles differ from song to song, but they are held together by a common mood of longing, sometimes with and sometimes without hope of reunion.
