The Here And Hereafter

Martin Halpern

About this work:
The texts of these three settings, Christina Rosetti's "When I Am Dead, My Dearest,"W.B. Yeats's "A Last Confession," and John Donne's "Death Be Not Proud," are all poems about the relation between this life and ideas of a life after death. Each setting is in a different style, reflecting the different styles of the poems; and in each the piano part is as active and important as the voice part.
