THE LOVE GOD GIVES (Pass It On)

Darrel I. Andrews

About this work:
This ORCHESTRAL SUITE WITH OFF-STAGE CHORUS is available for a premiere performance. The Suite is dedicated to my friend John Shenaut, Conductor Emeritus of the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra, for his interest and encouragement. Just like John's father has taught him principles of God's Love and sharing, he has passed these on to me. NARRATOR: This Overture is one of eight movements from the suite - "THE LOVE GOD GIVES (Pass It On)". Other movements have family related names, such as; Father, Mother, Sister, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, and Everybody. The main theme is - God loves all of us and HE wants us to pass this love on to others. FATHER - He re-affirms this commission of love to Brothers and Sisters of the world. The Father figure provides the example of dedication and guidance in fulfilling God's great commandment - "Love ye one another as I have loved you". MOTHER - She is the one you can always go to when there is a problem. She has had the experience and wisdom to know that "Through the sunshine or rain, God's love remains the same! It's really nice to get that assurance from Mother and adhear to her plea - Pass It On. SISTER - In a very rhythmic way, Sister lays it on the line - If you love God/you can show it/HE will know it/Pass It On! BROTHER - Brother says - Pass it on/the love God gives/ Pass it on/and truly live! UNCLE - Just like Paul/of the Bible Love can help you make the change Oh what a gain Be like Paul/ when you do it You'll never be the same! COUSIN - Being a Cousin, there are great lessons learned from the immediate family, of God's love. So Cousin says, Pass it on, Pass it on, Pass it on!! EVERYBODY - (after music begins) This is a challenge for Everybody! What do you plan to do with your life Do you have time to do something nice Jesus loves you! Pass it on!
