About this work:
Freely based on Nathaniel Hawthorne's story "My Kinsman, Major Molineux" and on Robert Lowell's play of the same name (by permission of the Lowell Estate and International Creative Management), the opera takes place on a bank of the Charles River in Boston shortly before the outbreak of the American Revolution. The set contains a small ferry landing; a tavern with portrait of King George III on its door; a shabby brick house displaying the union jack flag; a white church with steeple; and a mansion displaying the British lion and unicorn emblem on its conrnice.
