About this work:
"Another Dawn" is a setting of 5 Tang Dynasty poems (translated by the composer), set for soprano + a large chamber ensemble (flute (piccolo), oboe, violin, cello, percussion (1 performer) and harp, or 7 performers in all. The work was completed on New Year's Eve, 2002. Washington Post on Washington premiere (oct. 18, 2004): "A last-minute illness led the consort to substitute a clarinet for the soprano in Lawrence Moss's "Another Dawn", which sets poems from the Tao te Ching; Paul Cigan's clarinet tended to blend with the rest of the ensemblea, which emphasized Moss's vivid tone painting."
