Barbara Martyska is a composer and performer whose compositions have been published by major publishers, including Warner Bros. Publications, CPP/Belwin, The FJH Music Co. Inc., and Frederick Harris Music Co. Ltd. She has written works for solo and duet piano, solo voice, chorus, and various chamber ensembles. Her published compositions are available in music stores throughout the US and Canada.
She is the recipient of grants, awards, and commissions from ASCAP, Music Teachers National Association, Pennsylvania Music Teachers Association, ACCO (A Chorus Celebrating Women), National Federation of Music Clubs, and Lehigh Valley Gay Men’s Chorus, and is included in Who’s Who of American Women and the international edition of Who’s Who in the 21st Century.
Prior to her decision to devote most of her time to composition, she maintained a private studio for 25 years as a teacher of piano, theory, and composition and was on the faculty of Community Music School in Allentown, PA. She performs on a variety of instruments and is a clinician, lecturer, and adjudicator of piano and composition competitions.
She is a member of ASCAP, The American Music Center, National Federation of Music Clubs, and the Lehigh Valley Arts Council. She is a past president of the Lehigh Valley Chapter of Pennsylvania Music Teachers Association.
She lives with her husband, Jim Lieberman, in Allentown, PA.
